Inazumi Island is home to a valuable community of warm-climate plants. Among its most notable species is the bird’s-nest fern (Asplenium australasicum), known in Japan as OtanIwatari. The island is regarded as a particularly precious natural habitat for this plant because such native populations are rare in mainland Honshu.
The number of these plants once declined because of excessive collection, but conservation and restoration efforts have helped protect the island’s natural environment.

Easy Access from Town
Susami Beach is also attractive because it is easy to reach. By car, the beach is approximately five minutes from the Susami Interchange on the Kisei Expressway, and it is located along National Route 42.
The beach is especially convenient for travelers using public transportation. Susami Station on the JR Kisei Main Line (Kinokuni Line) is only about a three-minute walk away. Visitors can therefore combine a train journey with a relaxing seaside excursion without needing a car.
There are also hot spring facilities in the surrounding area. After spending time swimming or enjoying water activities, visiting an onsen (Japanese hot spring) is a pleasant way to wash off the seawater and relax after a day outdoors.
